At Everybody's cafe This is our group picture at Everybody's Cafe taken by fellow blogger and foodie Anton. We just had an unforgettable dinner at this culinary landmark in San Fernando, Pampanga which prides itself for being "the home of authentic Kapampangan cuisine." As usual, our table was filled with all sorts of goodies - some which smacked of down-home cooking and some which were simply not for the fainthearted. Among these were the fried camaru or cricket, the stuffed frogs and marinated carabao meat or pindang tapa , all of which we tried with ... Continue Reading...
Forget-your-diet, ultimate food trip to Subic & Pampanga, Part 2
At MeatPlus It took someone like Spanky to convince me to embark on another food trip on the culinary paradise that is Pampanga, of course together with our usual band of bloggers. Spanky's email a few weeks before the trip certainly had my appetite on a roll. He told us to try MeatPlus Cafe in Subic for one of the best-tasting cheeseburgers in town, the sinfully rich brazo de mercedes bars at Aurely's Bakeshop in San Fernando and Everybody's Cafe for a sampling of authentic Kapampangan cuisine. Of course we tried this all, and more! The trip would ... Continue Reading...
Pagliacci: Italian food (with the Italian temper?)
Pagliacci Pagliacci at the Podium is one of the few Italian places in Manila that has an Italian owner and chef. It was my second time to eat here and sample the varied items on the menu, especially since other people were paying. The last condition is important since I've pretty much given up shelling out my hard-earned money for "over-rated" pasta outside when I can very well cook it at home. ... Continue Reading...
Razon’s Halo-Halo, Susie’s Cuisine & Mely’s Sisig.. simply superb!
Razons My Coolness! Razon's Halo-Halo is simply superb. I haven't been to any of their branches in Manila and so cannot do a comparative taste test but the one we tried at their outlet in NepoMart, Angeles City was a piece of heaven on earth. For the benefit of our foreign readers, halo-halo (literally translated into mix-mix ...??!!) is a Filipino dessert composed of assorted toppings placed at the bottom of a tall glass (hmm, in that case it is no longer a topping but an underling, lol) then heaped with shaved ice, drizzled with milk then topped ... Ole! Great Mexican food at Zapata’s
Barely two hours after our hearty American lunch at VFW, interrupted by a little shopping-cum-walking exercise around the sprawling Puregold Supermarket inside the former Clark Air Base, we were ready to munch on great Mexican food at Zapata's. This place was quite a revelation to me as I didn't expect it to exist beside those rinky-dink bars that surround Clark's Perimeter Road. Its heavy wooden door had a sign that said "Open/Abierto" and as we stepped inside, we were treated to its colorful interiors, notably the red and green chairs and the giant replica of a ...
