It has been more than a year since Flatiron of the 1771 Group of Restaurants opened in Uptown Mall BGC. I always look forward going to this comfort food place. Executive Chef Vicky Rose Pacheco and her culinary team do a good job of whetting appetites with a well-curated menu of classic favorites given a twist. And they've done it again with new dishes to delight Flatiron diners. Recommended as an appetizer, the Bravo Potato Skins (P260) are crisp-fried then topped with pulled beef brisket, cheese, sour cream, bacon bits, and spring onions. Follow with ... Continue Reading...
Comfort food at Rackshack SM Aura
The non-millennials among us will surely recognize Racks. It's existing up to now and adding more branches but the owners thought it wise to breathe new life into the food chain to cater to the younger generation. Hence the birth of Rackshack which now has two branches in the District Makati and SM Aura. Rackshack SM Aura is modern yet homey and has wooden tables like most barbecue joints. You can dine alone or with a group, no problem. There are solo meals as well as platters for sharing. There's something for everyone and the good news is that prices ... Continue Reading...
6th Philippine Harvest Meets Bon Appetit
The 6th Philippine Harvest Meets Bon Appetit recently held at Central Square in Bonifacio Global City was one food festival I thoroughly enjoyed. Restaurants specializing in the cuisine aren't really so plenty in town so the next predictable thing to do was learn how to recreate the dishes in our kitchen. The common ingredients used in Mexican cooking just happens to be what I love as well....peppers, tortilla, corn, beans and cheese are just some of them. All caps on CHEESE by the way. My children and I are big lovers of it so that any dish that has cheese will surely be a big hit and gobbled up in no time. Pizza is the first thing that comes ... Cheap and good: Meer Cafe in Tagaytay
My most recent trip to Tagaytay was one where the drive into town was longer than my actual stay. But I didn't mind it because Tagaytay is always worth the trip. The majestic view of the lake volcano is something that never gets old, and there's always new eating places to discover. One such place that I got to try recently was Meer Cafe. It is more like a hole in the wall that can serve 20 people max. But boy, it did impress us with a most delicious baby back ribs and crispy pata. From the sauce to the bones, the ribs were finger-licking-good, and it came ... Continue Reading...
