One of Manila's eminent French chefs, Cyrille Soenen, is no longer with Restaurant Cicou but he can now be seen topbilling the newly-opened Impressions Restaurant at Maxims Tower of Resorts World Manila. The restaurant on the third floor of Maxims Tower is adjacent to the exclusive Genting Club (membership: half a million pesos annually). With its swanky surroundings, you can just guess the kind of customers Impressions seeks to attract. But we were quite surprised to find that one can have a meal here for as little as P600. First, what impresses is the ... Continue Reading...
Greek cooking class by Chef Robby Goco at The Maya Kitchen: priceless!
.... and so it came to pass that the Greek cooking class by chef-patron Robby Goco that I attended two Saturdays ago at The Maya Kitchen was the best one I've had this year! Chef Robby's kitchen anecdotes were simply too engaging and the recipes he shared too absorbing that even a toilet break was a luxury. He really should teach more cooking classes, and attending his cooking class is a must if you're a fan of his Greek restaurant chain Cyma or that great burger house Charlie's Grind & Grill! The good thing with this chef: he shares as much as he can what he ... Continue Reading...
Purefoods Premiere Deli Club at Chef Jessie, Rockwell
Cooking moms will be glad to know that Purefoods now has a Premiere Deli Club offering premium franks and cold cuts that were once only available in upscale (read: expensively-priced) delicatessens. We had a glimpse of the many ways you can do magic with processed meat during a launch event at Chef Jessie located at the Rockwell Club last week. For example, you can ... Continue Reading...
Mercato Centrale food delivery via 87878
City Delivery (just dial 87878) has partnered with Mercato Centrale to deliver the food products of their most popular merchants all days of the week! I am glad this service is now available because while I truly love the weekend markets, there are times when am too lazy to get out of bed early. Plus, Saturdays and Sundays are usually reserved for family bonding. I am still getting used to this food delivery thing and I can easily see the distinct advantages: 1. No more driving to the destination (in this case, the Mercato Centrale venue at the Bonifacio Global ... Continue Reading...
Kitch Cafe: design inspirations
After my little post on Cafe Noriter Taft, I'd like to feature again some design inspiration. Knowing how I love to be in coffeeshops, it's nice when the the interiors are nicely done and your eyes wander to conversation pieces here and there. Kitch' (short for kitchen) is a cafe tucked away in some corner of Makati's Amorsolo corner Pasay Road, just a short walk away from Little Tokyo. It's relatively small, but there's stairs that lead to a more spacious second floor. The one thing I noticed: no two plates were alike. Hubby loved their house burger ... Continue Reading...
