After feasting on a P580 set lunch at Le Bistro d'Agathe, the next one was even better: it was a P595 set dinner at L'Entrecote in the Fort. It came complete with a topnotch steak, salad, dessert and a glass of wine! You might ask: how is that possible? I say, blame it on those pesky groupon deals.Am fairly new to the groupon game but I couldn't resist snapping up this offer from pakyaw.com.ph a month or two ago. It was 50% off from the usual price :D As expected, the star of the night was the resto's US Prime Choice L'Entrecôte Steak Topped with the ... Continue Reading...
Endless possibiliTEAS with Lipton
I love the idea of a tea party! I just attended one at the cozy Paul Calvin's Deli in the Fort last Saturday. Aside from the delicious munchies that was served, it was a great learning experience to discover the many ways by which one can serve one of the healthiest drinks around: tea. Take a bag of Lipton and one can have a cinnamon chai latte, or a Hong Kong-style milk tea, or a hot apple tea.Easy-to-prepare recipes were shared to us by Rosebud Benitez, the pretty chef and host of Quickfire on GMA News TV. In a table neatly laid out with ingredients, she ... Continue Reading...
Menudo & adobo recipes at SM Master Chefs 2011 cooking marathon
It's nice to be reacquainted with lutong bahay or home cooking when you've eaten too many restaurant meals.:-D On spotlight this week: a delicious menudo dish that you can cook for 10 minutes or less. It was created by Unilever Food Solutions corporate sous chef John Paul Sia for the SM Master Chefs Cooking Marathon 2011. I couldn't help munching on this menudo which is prepared "tapas" style - ergo, can be eaten even without rice. Emphasis is on long marination (overnight), using less sauce and choosing a meat cut (pork tenderloin) that can be sauteed for only ... Continue Reading...
Le Bistro d’Agathe: a French restaurant in Makati
We've been eating out a lot lately. Blame it on the fact that I have a long list of restaurants I'd like to try out before 2011 closes. I know I am already writing a lot about food as it is, but the Manila resto landscape seems to changing and ever-expanding that it's hard to keep tabs on the developments. Anyway, the past week saw me and hubby scouting for furniture and knick-knacks in Bangkal, Makati City.If you don't know Bangkal, this area is best known as a haven for second-hand car parts, thrift shops and flea market finds. We had a great time touring the ... Continue Reading...
Must-taste of the week: Ferrero chocolate gelato @ Sol Gelato in Venice Piazza
In the cosmopolitan food hub that is Manila, colorfully-designed frozen yogurt cafes go head to head with ice cream parlors and gelaterias for supremacy in the field of chilly treats. I believe that froyo has had its heyday, it's time to say a big HELLO to good ol' ice cream (think Sebastian's) or sharpen up your tongue for a divine taste of Italy - gelato oh gelato! My must-try of the week are the frozen desserts at Sol Gelato. We went to this quaint spot at the Venice Piazza in McKinley Hill after gorging on dishes from the Food Adventure tour. Being a ...
