I simply had to smile (and take a second look!) when I saw this product in Shopwise a few months ago. The label said Bread Spread but it was packaged in what looked like a shampoo/conditioner container. There's no way this thing is getting into my bathroom. Or else I'd surely feel the urge to squirt the container and then my hair will smell like pesto :) At only P75, McCormick Bread Spread is cheaper than a bottle of conditioner. Months after I spotted it in the grocery, am glad to say that I've tasted all three variants. Garlic tastes like the real thing. Pesto ... Continue Reading...
Pnoy SONA 2012: all ready
Everything's set for President Aquino's report to the nation later.Storm Ferdie exited the country already, but there will still be no classes in some Quezon City public schools which are in close proximity to Batasang Pambansa, the venue of the President's speech. This annual event is such a big deal, and even fashion watchers regularly await what the women legislators are wearing ( related question: will Shalani Soledad show up?) The State of the Nation speech is still a mystery up to its time of delivery but there are already some things to expect. According to ... Continue Reading...
’tis the season for polka dots
Polka dots is something I associate with the New Year. In the past, silly old me would end up with a top or dress (make it a frumpy house dress) with polka dots in them, along with jingling coins in my pocket at the stroke of 12:01. As the oldies would say, no harm in wishing yourself good luck. Now it seems polka dots are no longer a New Year thing as designers go in full gear to make them the trend this season. Starting with Yayoi Kusama for Louis Vuitton. Dropping by the Newport Mall this week, I was lusting after the Furla bon bon bag. I like Furla ... Continue Reading...
Birkin scam update : spend only what you can afford to lose
Women should be aware. Scammers of designer bags, and even those who represent replica bags as authentic bags, abound in Manila. They prey on buyers in sites like eBay.ph and Sulit. I've known this truth a few years ago when the owner of a low-key boutique I frequent in Paranaque told me how a few buyers who buy who buy her bags for 2 or 3K (made in HK or Korea) and resell the stuff in the five digits (like 45 or 50,000) on the leading shopping sites. What's a few lines of free advertisement, right? You never know who gets to "bite." Here's an example: So you ... Continue Reading...
La Mer in the Philippines + National Geographic contest
There are people who throw all their money on *sigh* Blahniks and Birkin bags. Then, there are also women (like me) who'd rather spend their hard-earned money on good skin care. I figure that even the most expensive Chanel won't look good on somebody with a crinkly neck or stubborn under eye circles, unless wearing turtle necks & spectacles become the order of the day in the tropics :) For weeks now, I've started with my daily regimen of using Creme de la Mer twice a day and am thrilled when friends greet me on my luminous skin. La Mer, as a cream, is made from ... Continue Reading...
