Because I live down south, I was glad that the much-awaited Leilanie's House of Bags is now open. I've seen the manse with the replica of a pink Hermes being constructed, the huge billboards and banners along the highway, the newspaper ads ... how can I not go and take a look? Secondly, am curious to know who Leilanie Calderon is and why she has all these pricey bags. The building where her store is was used as the campaign headquarters of Paranaque City Mayor Jun Bernabe during the May elections. Are they in any way related? Anyhoo, It was a good exercise ogling ... Continue Reading...
BUM is for grunge and goth
BUM is one of the oldest, most enduring, fashion labels in the Philippines. It used to be called by a much longer name Bum Equipment (itself an international brand). We are happy to hear that the label is still doing well despite the seeming saturation of the clothing market and the influx of cheap imports from China. We heard it from owners Gerwin Cue and Nathan Atienza themselves that BUM has been able to ride the tide by changing their logo and focusing on Philippine provincial cities where most of the market remains untapped. It is, no less, an inspiring business ... Continue Reading...
Ipanema Gisele Bundchen Summer 2010 collection
I remember it was at this same time last year when I fell in love with Ipanema flip-flops, a brand endorsed by no less than curvy Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen. The old pair from a year ago am still wearing up to now, though am gearing to replace it with hippier designs from the 2010 "Colorful Sea" collection. The 2010 collection is all about freedom, sophistication and grace. They are flip-flops that can easily be worn on the streets, in the beach and in laughter-filled summer parties. Comfort wearers can choose from platform wedges to feminine thong designs ... Continue Reading...
Grendha shoes and slip-ons to love at Bambu store, Glorietta
We attended the opening of the new Bambu store in Glorietta 4 last week, and we thought having four young girls cut the ceremonial ribbon was such a cute idea. (they were nieces/relatives of Bambu owner Patxi Elizalde) Bambu is a one-stop shop when you're looking for quality, fashionable Brazilian footwear, notably flip-flops which you can strut around the beach. Very apt since summer's almost here! The house carries such noted brands as Ipanema, Ipanema GB (which stands for supermodel Gisele Bundchen), Grendha and Rider sandals for men. They've also added ... Continue Reading...
