I grew up in the 90s meeting people in bars and parties. These days, much of the socializing is done online, through Facebook, blogs, forums and other virtual communities. I've counted my FB friends (1,500 or so of them) and realized that 70 per cent of them I wouldn't recognize if I met them on the street. Then it dawns on me that I've been spending most of my time facing dear lappy in the bedroom. The friend I used to have coffee with in 1999 is now the friend who sold me a cookie cutter in Multiply, chatted with me after a webinar or added me as a pal on ... Continue Reading...
Kids fly for free with Qatar Airways while Malaysia Airlines bans babies
I've never ridden the award-winning Qatar Airways but I thought this is a great promotion and it would be a sin not to share with my readers: an adult booking a flight to the Middle East by August 27, 2011 pays zero fare up to two kids. Only travel taxes and surcharges shall apply. The promo, meant to encourage family holidays, is good to use in the following destinations: Abu Dhabi, Aleppo, Amman, Bahrain, Beirut, Damascus, Doha, Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat and Riyadh - all in the Middle East. Here's the complete fine print: (via Qatar Airways website) Ticket holders ... Continue Reading...
A Dove dinner and make-up lessons from Xeng Zulueta
To be a make-up artist is one of my secret wishes (and I guess it's no longer secret at this point). I think there's a fascinating art to looking good and the ability to transform a face with make-up is magic in itself. I attended a dinner-cum-mini beauty workshop hosted by Dove last week and one of the first lessons taught was for women to have good skin before one can have truly great make-up. And one word came up in the discussion several times that I promised it will be my mantra: moisturize, moisturize, moisturize! I can't fault Dove for selling the idea to ... Continue Reading...
Breakfast at Paris Delice
I can't explain why at the height of tropical storm Falcon last week, I was dreaming of my own little Paris in Makati, a quaint patisserie called Paris Delice .... Paris, of course, is one place I have to go which probably explains my fascination for this small place in Juno St. near Jupiter. I've been harboring a vain battle to eat light like a French woman. Paris Delice hits the spot with its offerings of soups, salads and sandwiches. None of the greasy fried rice and other stuff that we, Pinoys, are accustomed to eat with our main meals. The only thing ... Continue Reading...
