It has been years since I've eaten at the homey Lola Maria restaurant of The Legend Villas. It seems nothing much has changed in terms of the lunch crowd it draws. Its secret, all these years, is its good Filipino cooking and the reasonably-priced buffet which, at 450 pesos, is not bad for a hotel setting. Proximity has always been my problem in going to this place more often since we live in southern Metro Manila. But for this visit, I was glad to escape the horrendous EDSA traffic, ride the MRT train and alight at the Boni station. Solved the problem :D I ... Continue Reading...
Who is the Big Blogger who is smiling his way to the bank?
The blogging circle in Manila is just very small and am kinda amused at how someone has been portrayed the Big Bad Blogger (like he's really baaad!) I've heard about this BBB issue as early as two years ago, when fellow bloggers would tell me stories about talking to so and so resort/resto owner that Big Blogger approached. I didn't easily dismiss it as a result of envy and professional jealousy, but until I talked to affected restaurant owners themselves, I wasn't ready to believe all the reports either. I thought to myself then: what is this blogger and his band ... Continue Reading...
Chris Sports & 2011 fitness resolutions
I still have to blog about my experience as a Fitness First member. With my crazy busy schedule, I'd be lucky to visit the clubs twice a week. Thrice a week really means pushing it in favor of huffin' and puffin' after an awful graveyard shift. My secret wish though is to be able to work out at home when driving to the gym looks impossible. Am just glad Chris Sports sent me their latest catalogue. Read the description and match it with what you see in the picture and we're ready to shop (and get fit!) 1. Give yourself a cardio workout with the PROFORM 680 ... Continue Reading...
Smart C+: all the Vitamin C you need in a drink
It's only January after all, and I haven't forgotten my New Year's resolution to keep fit and stay healthy. I hardly gulp down soda now, and that's a good thing! I still drink coffee, and that's another story :D One thing that doesn't hurt us is drinking fruit juices but it can sometimes be a hassle slicing, dicing and pureeing. That is why I opt for ready-made juices which I can buy by the bottle in the market - of course, the more natural, the better. I was certainly glad to be introduced to the Smart C+ high Vitamin C drink brought to us by Oishi, the cracker ... Continue Reading...
Darwin International School, Bulacan: studying with the Top 3 colleges in mind
Darwin International School is the reason why I want to pack up my three school-age kids to Bulacan. Bulacan students should be oh-so-lucky :D Darwin is a relatively new school and started as a tutorial center in 2003. Even though it has "international school" attached to its name, the tuition is not crazy expensive (between 30-40 thousand pesos a year, if am not mistaken). But it certainly proves a lot in providing quality education to its students, judging from its graduates' high admission rates to the Top 3 universities in the country. For this year's ...
