How to do tsismis with finesse

May 24, 2005 ·

In journalism, they say that when a dog bites a man, that's not news but when a man bites a dog, that's news. Well, gossip or tsismis in Tagalog parlance, is definitely something else.... All humans I think have a natural preponderance for gossip, whether as an active participant or a mere listener. But what if you are the object of the gossip itself? There are persons who actually rejoice when people start talking about them. Think about Kris Aquino. In my case, I get royally pissed when attention is focused on myself, especially if it's very much unwanted and ... Continue Reading...

My busy schedule these days has made me give up all hopes of going through another round of baking experiments. But still I wanted to join the monthly food blogging event, Sugar High Friday #8, hosted by Alice of My Adventures in the Breadbox. The theme's Pucker Up With Citrus. In the run-up to SHF #8, I was glad to stumble upon an old recipe of Filipina baking maven Dorothy Ferreria on Candied Yams which calls for the fair use of orange juice, orange rind , orange marmalade and calamansi lime for its tasty, syrupy glaze. ... The Sassy Lawyer Unplugged!

May 20, 2005 ·

Love her or hate her but there's definitely no stopping The Sassy Lawyer from being on top of the Philippine blogging scene. Get to know more about this spunky lady in this week's Blog-o-Rama.As a sidebar, I am sure Sassy would admit it herself that she is talkative by nature. And so this is the reason why her readers weren't able to view the transcript of her interview in full (my fault, not the editor's.) Some lines simply had to be cut due to our newspaper's space considerations. Here are The Sassy Lawyer's missing answers:Do you think politicians, artistas and other ... Continue Reading...

Eh kasi bakla…

May 17, 2005 ·

CurlyOriginally uploaded by annalyn. CURLY FOR A DAY. I've grown my hair long and have been bored with its straight look for the longest time. That is why I was doubly thrilled when I had a hair-curling session in SM today en route to buying the UK-made JML ProCeramic Straightener (P1,199.00) It is actually a straightening iron which lets you create "spiral curl effects" on your hair as well. Hmm, what do you think? I was glad that a lady customer gushed today : "Ang ganda naman ng hair mo." I think curly hair is exciting and never boring. Too bad, I know I will not be ...
