A fun family weekend in Pansol

October 11, 2004 ·

Nene's cozy roadside food stall in Pansol. On display are lechon manok, grilled hito, pork bbq and salted eggs. (Taken with a Nokia 6230)The whole clan motored to Pansol, Calamba City, Laguna last Saturday for my mom's advanced birthday celebration. The uninitiated may ask, "Where is Pansol?" Cooking Project: Mang Cesar’s Salad & Lamb Kaldereta (from scrap)

October 8, 2004 ·

Cooking to me is a luxury these days - which is a pity since I am more passionate about food than religion or sex. Before JR's eyebrows rise a notch higher, let me try to explain: am no frigid babe but a chunk of steak is more accessible to me than human flesh. And while I may not be particular about the assortment of food I pile up on my buffet platter, experience has taught me to discriminate among the smorgasboard of men ripe for the picking, at the risk of suffering those terrible womanly woes. Now, I can't imagine myself being a vegetarian but I swear the picture ... Bewitched by the I Ching

October 4, 2004 ·

I am not a Bible reader but of late, I have found inspiration in the I Ching which, its followers believe, is "a living, breathing oracle, a patient and all-seeing teacher who can be relied upon for flawless advice at every turning point in our lives." Reading the I Ching has gifted me with a gentler spirit, accepting with serene humility the trials and brickbats thrown my way. Through the I Ching, I would like to disengage myself from the wiles of the world - to replace hatred with kindness, jealousy with selflessness, and the thirst for material things with rugged ...
