I've been going to buffet lunches for two days in a row and I feel....FULL.It's hard to resist these things when your boss tags you along as part of your corporate duties. I can't complain. I love to eat but at the same time,I admire vegans who survive on celery sticks for dinner. I simply cannot imagine myself being in that situation. My food philosophy is to indulge what Life feeds you on the silver platter. I don't want to receive my Last Rites thinking of the Ribeye Steak and Nicoise Salad I should have had, all because of that magic word which is the obsession of ... Continue Reading...
Overbooked!
One of my New Year's resolutions is to read more books and I am doing it now. There are many reasons why people resort to reading. It can be an indication of one's financial health (better to read than to shop) or it can be a distress signal of how low your social life has become (whaaaa! where are all the parties? am having a migraine here)I like the fact that reading keeps me celibate and sane at the same time.In literature, you can have all the Mr. Darcys and Robert Kincaids in the world whereas if you choose real life you probably will have to deal with a man who's ... The Lost Art of Gift-Giving
shot with canon ixus i, my must-have gadget this month . It's a sunny Saturday and the day is unfurling beautifully as it should.First, because I meet my LTF (Long-Time Friend) Issa at Rai-Rai Ken and am eating Japanese for three days in a row now. I just looove Japanese food and more so because the doctor has ordered that penne carbonara is bad for my health. I must have been a geisha in my former life and it really is one of my life's wish to visit the atrociously expensive Land of The Rising Sun. Anyway, Ish (who's a diplomat) gave me a pen, a bracelet and a ... Continue Reading...
Sex in the name of Love
It was a different Paulo Coelho I read in Eleven Minutes. While The Alchemist is a simple fable about following your dream, readers should not expect the same treatment from the novel which deals with the adventures of Maria, a Brazilian village girl who achieves her life's goals the hard way, through prostitution. The book is sensual and provocative and is easily one of my favorites this year. The translation from Portuguese by Margaret Jull Costa is "full of poetry and beautiful images"...the words being a long, slow lap dance waiting to be devoured at every turn. ... A night with the President
Up Close with the Prez, originally uploaded by ajay. Now it can be told: my claim to history is being in the same toilet with the President of the Philippines. You might say "big deal." But I have to add, it doesn't happen everyday. You might be with the President in a town hall, in an office building, in a grand ballroom but in the toilet..with just you, the President, her lady guard, and the cleaning lady? That is simply one for the books! To answer Notty's question: the Prez went to the toilet ahead of me and I had to ask the presidential guards if I could come ... Continue Reading...
