Gosh. The snack giant Oishi is almost the same age as me :) It was in 1974 when Oishi Prawn Crackers and Kirei were born. Those two bring back childhood memories but there are so many variants now. Just some of the things I love: Oishi's Gourmet Picks Potato Chips Kimchi Flavor and Cheese-Soaked Sponge Crunch...heavenly! To celebrate 40 years of snack food goodness, the brand held a family-type event where they invited celebrities and not-so celebrities like me (haha!) for A Day of O Wow Surprises! Venue was the Skye Lounge on the rooftop of the W Building at the ... Continue Reading...
Fastfood: Tropical Hut Sili Burger + KFC Double Down
The past week had me really craving for fastfood. Kinda unusual since I would rather have real carinderia or canteen food than stuff that can be handed to me in two minutes. But I guess if you're a mom like me, buying Happy Meals with toys can't be avoided or finishing off the kids' plates of their leftover Chickenjoy and spaghetti :) Tropical Hut, an old burger brand in the Philippines, isn't really in my radar. But I have to admit their poster for their new offering called Sili Burger piqued my interest. At this age, am still a sucker for good ol' ... Continue Reading...
Manila’s 10 best ramen restos 2014 listed
So there's a list of Manila's 10 best ramen restos going around, and am bound to believe it because it's compiled by a Japanese, and second, because the article author Mr. Gaku Nakamura proclaims himself to be a "ramen consultant." Considering the number of restos and international ramen franchises sprouting up, this list is surely helpful to help us separate the chaff from the grain. Also, being a ramen consultant, I hope Mr. Nakamura is not biased towards some of his "clients." ;) I am sure everyone on this list have their own merits and have the word ... Continue Reading...

List of Manila’s 2013 best new restaurants from Esquire
Esquire Philippines does a portrait of John Lloyd Cruz's not-so-well known back in its February 2014 issue. Oddly enough, there's not a single photo of the heartthrob's face on its minimalist cover, for a change. But the info about his growing reputation as a valued patron in art circles is revealing, if not refreshing. Most of us don't know that JLC seriously dabbles in art and there are photos of all those paintings and sculptures in his apartment. At a street price of P200, Esquire is kinda out of my budget (LOL) but I realized I can pay even P500 for a dose ... Continue Reading...
