One of my resolutions: to re-read the writings of Dr. Jose Rizal all over again.Having imbibed his thoughts a long time ago in college, I remember how struck I was by his deep sense of nationalism, leaving no doubt that he deserves to be called the Philippines' national hero. In celebration of 150 years of Dr. Jose Rizal, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines calls for nominations to the Rizal Awards. The Rizal Awards will be conferred on ten Filipinos and three foreigners who would be awarded in the Individual Category and ten institutions, ... Continue Reading...
Hello Kitty cake, Princess cupcakes & Lucia’s 1st birthday at The Creamery
Our youngest child Lucia celebrated her birthday recently. There's so much to be thankful for her first year: her two front teeth, being able to walk and talk a few words, continuing to be a healthy and a happy baby! We decided to splurge a little on a children's party at The Creamery. Well, I think "splurge" isn't really the word since the venue wasn't a five star hotel. The Creamery is an ice cream parlor at the Mall of Asia and we held the party there because of their reasonable rates which already included the party banner, theme decor, balloon set up, ... Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year … from our house to yours:)
The runup to Christmas went by in a blur. The traffic jams around Manila and the rush to buy gifts are the very things I dread about the season. But somehow I managed to dodge the pressure that goes with all these and was even excited to buy gifts for everybody. Overall, it's been a good year for the family and it would just be selfish not to share and remember people, even with little things. Create your own video slideshow at animoto.com. I remember being pregnant with our daughter Lucia last year and see how so much of our life has changed with her arrival. ... Continue Reading...
Spotted in Greenhills: who is she?
Hubby and I went to Greenhills ('twas his first time there) and while he looked at video games, I spotted a familiar-looking woman. She looked out of place because she was wearing turn-of-the-century costume (think Maria Clara) and had bushy eyebrows that could put Brooke Shields to shame. Then I remembered that she looked familiar because I saw her pic previously in Chuvaness' blog. Although one can't help but notice her in the crowd because of her appearance, I couldn't really bear giving her a lingering look, baka maging kamukha nya baby ko, LOL. So I took one shot ... Help Haiti quake victims thru the power of technology
Through the powers of technology, the world is witnessing the unfolding drama that is the aftermath of the powerful Intensity 7 earthquake that hit the Caribbean nation of Haiti. Hundreds of thousands are believed to be still missing and trapped within the shattered buildings. For those of us in the Philippines, the quake in Haiti has some parallels, if you count the tragic July 1990 earthquake (magnitude 7.7) and more recently, Typhoon Ondoy. Three Filipino members of the UN peacekeeping contingent remain unaccounted for in the Haiti tragedy. But unlike the 1991 ... Continue Reading...
