Finally, I got to eat at Yabu House of Katsu, haha. As food lovers, we all have our list of must-try restaurants. In this case, am happy to try what the Pied Piper of Hamelin among my blogger-friends have been raving about - Yabu easily being the best, if not one of the best katsus in Manila. Am glad we don't have to fly to Osaka or Tokyo for this treat. Luckily, I had a meeting around the Ortigas-Quezon City area over the long weekend and Megamall is just an MRT ride away. Even more luck, there was a Megamall food sale going on where restos offered various ... Continue Reading...
Restaurante Pia Y Damaso, Greenbelt 5
Does having a long name for a restaurant equate to long life? I've seen Restaurante Pia Y Damaso in Greenbelt 5 for as long as I can remember, when GB 5 was only a string of 4 or five restos. Funny that I never got to dine fully here. I thought the small space made it more ideal for desserts and coffee. Look at what I've been missing! It was love at first bite between me and the Filo Tart with Pork Asado (P220). Inside, this treat is filled with asado like the kind you have in siopao. But instead of steamed bun, it's enclosed in crunchy filo pastry & made even ... Continue Reading...
Bulgogi Brothers MOA
The international Korean food franchise Bulgogi Brothers opened at the Mall of Asia last August 6 with a very irresistible offer: 50% off the diners' food bill when you dine on the day.How can we say no, right? We arrived in time before the dinner peak hours and actually had to wait for a table for a few minutes. I saw some Korean managers hovering around which assured me that we were not going to have an American version of kimchi :) I did see how some people went wild with their orders, like the guys at the table next to us who probably ordered half of what ... Say hello to McCormick Bread Spread
I simply had to smile (and take a second look!) when I saw this product in Shopwise a few months ago. The label said Bread Spread but it was packaged in what looked like a shampoo/conditioner container. There's no way this thing is getting into my bathroom. Or else I'd surely feel the urge to squirt the container and then my hair will smell like pesto :) At only P75, McCormick Bread Spread is cheaper than a bottle of conditioner. Months after I spotted it in the grocery, am glad to say that I've tasted all three variants. Garlic tastes like the real thing. Pesto ... Continue Reading...
Late night chow at Sensei Sushi Bar
I was ready to ignore this sushi bar in BF Homes Paranaque until I read something about it. I knew the spot since it used to be occupied by Serenitea, until the latter got bigger and moved to a more spacious location. Anyway, this Sensei looked dark yet welcoming. Hubby doesn't like it when the menu doesn't have pictures of the food, but I love how this blackboard made me feel like I was ordering food from the classroom :) Add to this a library. If I owned this resto, I'd get nervous if diners squirreled away any of my cookbooks. On the table: ... Continue Reading...
