Coco loco at Cocorama Pancake Island & All-Day Groovy Cafe

April 8, 2007 ·

coco murals2 Merriest Easter greetings to all. If everything works out well (that means waking up early), me and the kiddies will be having brunch today at this little mall resto I discovered recently.. a coconut-inspired cafe in the middle of the concrete jungle that is the mall in EDSA Shang-ri La. Upon first setting my eyes here, I have to admit that the place attracted me because of its cheery interiors, the bright, hippie-inspired murals plastered on its walls, blaring 60s funky music and its offerings ~ pancakes, shakes, omelets and more which are ... Holy Week, and Manila is a ‘ghostland’…

April 7, 2007 ·

I don't understand why people insist on going out of Manila at this time...though it is exactly for these same folks going out that I get to enjoy being left here when there's no traffic,no noisy vendors and no commuters jostling each other. I imagine that Manila during the Holy Week was like the 60s when the city's population didn't yet balloon to millions and the local transportation office didn't yet give permits to every pesky jeepney and tricycle that applied to run the block. This is exactly what I wish the city to be, less of course the dirt, the pollution and ... Continue Reading...

At last… a Wagyu beef meal @ Malcolm’s Place

April 4, 2007 ·

Malcolm's Place menu O-k-a-y, it's Holy Week now and Good Friday soon but please just allow me this little post on the nice Wagyu beef meal I had at this resto we stumbled upon right after the Blog Awards called Malcolm's Place. So it was after the Bloggies and there was a standing invitation to hop on over to Hula Hula Bar in EDSA Shang for a celebration party. Though the idea of cooling off with an ice-cold bottle of San Miguel very much appealed to me, the thought of traversing a major bus-filled highway set me back. Am just learning how to drive ... ’twas like the Oscars of Philippine blogging, teehee..

April 2, 2007 ·

One of the highlights of the past week was the finals of the Philippine Blog Awards. Being a judge and minor sponsor to this event, I was egging my friends to go with me but nobody wanted to, either because they were busy, shy, scared or whatever. Finally, my buddy James, managing ed of Metro Magazine relented...maybe because he's curious about blogging and will start a blog soon?? (abangan) Here's one of our first pictures when we arrived at the humungous RCBC Plaza with another blogger, Pierre of The Jester in Exile. Who else would I see loitering in the ... Europino food fest at Serendra till April 1

March 31, 2007 ·

Serendra mosaic Shame on me but it was only this week that I got to take a first look at Serendra, the latest hip and happening place in the metro which is located in the Fort, Global City in Taguig. Serendra is another project of Community Innovations (an Ayala group) which deftly combines commercial and residential areas to create a masterplanned hub. The apartment-buildings could have done better with a more trailblazing design though, especially if you factor in the P10 million or so price tag. My journalist-friends and I were talking about how this ... Continue Reading...
