2006 World Cup fever heats up even more: meet the hunks of football

June 27, 2006 ·

kaka Originally uploaded by scorpioneyes. The World Cup fever is on in Manila! Okay, the crowds are mostly male but at least this basketball-crazy country is taking notice of another sport for a change.A lot of bars and lounges, including one in the hotel I work in, have put up giant TVs and projection screens to show the matches now happening in Germany. And the atmosphere is going to heat up even more on the way to the finals. Which team do you think will win? Some say current champion Brazil - with its power-packed line-up - has a strong chance of ... Continue Reading...

Cape Santiago Lighthouse, a Calatagan landmark

June 25, 2006 ·

calatagan lighthouse One of the highlights of my visit to Calatagan,Batangas was a hike up the Cape Santiago Lighthouse which is the oldest working lighthouse in the country. Built in 1890 by the Spanish government, a fact sheet describes the lighthouse as standing " on an elevated cliff which guides the way between Verde Island Passage, San Bernardino Strait and the Manila Bay. The resort was huge and the centerpiece was the beautifully-designed water ... Continue Reading...

Love advice to Jonnie: ‘time to face the music’

June 21, 2006 ·

I have gotten all sorts of inquiries on my posts in this blog, the most popular being people who have asked me about this private pool in Laguna and who my favorite psychic is. Yes, some have even hounded me on YM just to know about the rates, time of availability etc. that I feel like a Wikipedia/telephone directory already. Mercy, mercy moi! The other day, reader Jonnie left a comment here to unload his problem. Being a frustrated advice columnist, I now deal with his dilemma in this post. If you were in the situation, how would you act too? Here goes: ... Continue Reading...
