Two dual-SIM smartphones running on Android Ice Cream Sandwich (version 4.0) were launched by local phone company Cherry Mobile last Oct. 24. The price points: only P3,999 for the Cherry Mobile Flare which is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual Core Processor. The slightly larger Titan, on the other hand, is priced at P6,499 and has a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen. Both phones are preinstalled with the Opera Mini 7.5 web browser. The big bash announcing the launch of Cherry Mobile's Android smartphones featured a nimble and sexily clad pole dancer. Some of us could only say "WHA??!" It turned out to be a euphemism for something - Cherry Mobile revving up the excitement for the competition and pole vaulting its way to challenge giants like the Apple iPhone.
