How Blogging Started in RP

March 31, 2005 ·

Drats. This week has been a horrible tsunami that I forgot to mention my Blog-O-Rama article has been online since Monday. It's interestingly called "How Blogging Started in the Philippines" and you may read it here. Doing the article made me realize the diverse personalities populating the blogosphere. It was enlightening to know that the field is not only dominated by the geeks or techies (collectivelly called the technogeeks) but also grandmoms, housewives, teenagers and the like. And the clincher is that the first person to have blogged in this country was a ... Continue Reading...

IMBB # 13: Cupcakes For My Babes

March 24, 2005 ·

When my kids are in the house, they are an unusually noisy bunch. However, there's one activity when they huddle together in intense concentration and see what busy mom is doing: Baking Time!Yes indeed, it was time once again to bring out the baking pans, measuring spoons and cups for the monthly Is My Blog Burning foodfest showcased by fellow foodies from all over the world. This time around, the monthly event is hosted by Maki of i was just really very hungry and revolved around a theme I love the most: muffins and/or cupcakes.I dig this because cupcakes are easy to ... Cellphone Mentality

March 21, 2005 ·

Nokia 6680 Originally uploaded by annalyn. Two weeks ago I was at the launching of Nokia's latest phone models at this five star hotel. I must say it was a superb experience munching on salmon & beef roulade while pretty ladies unveiled the phones one by one, as one might expect at a Sotheby's auction. If you haven't noticed, Nokia has been churning out phone models every quarter or so - which is indicative of its demand in the market, and the threat posed by equally-prolific brands like Samsung et al. As a result of that event, my dream phone at the moment is ... Continue Reading...

Moving Out, Moving In

March 19, 2005 ·

My Pasay City immersion program has ended and now the whole family is settled in our two-bedroom apartment in Malate, the heart of Manila's tourist district. What else can I say... while I loved my own bedroom with its own spacious bathroom in Pasay, the city itself had become unbearable for me with its filth and all those kids romping around in the streets. It was in Pasay that I was suddenly transformed into a rabid supporter of the population control program. I couldn't even make a decent walk in the evening because there were all these kids -either dirty or naked - ... Continue Reading...
