Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery in Shatin

June 5, 2016 ·

The 10,000 Buddhas Monastery in Shatin is often overlooked by many tourists to Hong Kong. After all, how many of us will bother riding the East Rail Line all the way up the New Territories? But am telling you it's well worth the visit if you want something out of the ordinary from the hustle and bustle of HK. The entrance is impressive enough. There are approximately 500 golden life-size statues lining the pathway. One couldn't help but be amazed, if not amused, with their different poses and expressions. Prepare to exercise. I regretted not ... Continue Reading...

GSK unveils ‘You Can & You Will’ campaign

June 5, 2016 ·

May was Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. In line with this, pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) boosted its advocacy to increase cervical cancer awareness efforts with the Power Over Cervical Cancer “You Can & You Will” campaign. The campaign aims to encourage Filipinas to realize that they have the power to protect themselves and their dreams—simply by consulting their doctors and asking about ways to prevent cervical cancer, the second leading cause of cancer deaths among Filipinas. “An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Getting cancer ... Continue Reading...

First timers in Puerto Galera

May 25, 2016 ·

A few weeks ago I finally summoned the willpower to go to Puerto Galera. This was quite the big deal since I've been to Batanes, Banaue, Palawan, Camiguin, Guimaras and other remote places but not to this verdant tourist spot in Oriental Mindoro. So that Saturday, I hauled off the kids and off we traversed the southern highway till we reached the Port of Batangas. In the pier, I parked the car, purchased tickets for the five of us and off we rode the boat that would take us in an hour or so to Puerto Galera. I was quite nervous about this boat ride since we ... Continue Reading...

Weekend Fiesta buffet @MarcoPoloManila Cucina

May 21, 2016 ·

The weekend is here and it's time to treat ourselves. Allow me to give you a heads-up on the Weekend Fiesta at Cucina, Marco Polo Manila's all-day dining restaurant on the 24th floor which we tried recently. For only P2,300 net for lunch and P2,650 for dinner, guests can sample premium dishes, aside from the regular buffet selections at Cucina. What's even more special, 1 buffet is free if you bring two or more friends. This is certainly value for money if somebody's celebrating a birthday or a milestone in life. Anyway, I was excited to go to Cucina because ... Continue Reading...
