November 16, 2010 has been declared a holiday by Malacanang today to celebrate the Muslim feast of Eid'l Adha. As Nov. 16 falls on a Tuesday, this doesn't qualify as a long weekend holiday, but at least the day off is still something that students, state and private sector workers will enjoy :D The holiday announcement was made possible through Proclamation No. 60 signed by President Aquino. Eid'l Adha is recognized under the law as a national holiday by virtue of Republic Act 9849. The date for the celebration of this holiday is movable, depending on the ... Continue Reading...
Reward yourself @ the Rado Watch Boutique, Glorietta
If you're looking for a freestanding store of the noted watchmaker Rado of Switzerland, there's only one in the Philippines, and it can be found at the ground floor of Glorietta 4. We got an invite recently to witness the unveiling of their redesigned store. It turned out to be a costly proposition since hubby and I ended up buying two of their impeccable Swiss watches :D I tried to console myself by saying it was my birthday, 2) Mr. Z was buying it for me anyway, and 3) a well-made watch is a better investment than a designer bag. Its durability and design lasts ... Continue Reading...
Borough, Podium Mall
From the owners of Fiamma Bar and Il Ponticello Cafe Ristorante in Makati City comes now Borough, a bar-cum-restaurant in Mandaluyong's Podium Mall. I first read about this resto in Yummy Magazine and thought it best to visit while waiting for our bus going to Ilocos to depart from Ortigas on a Thursday night. Best reason to come back here with the kids: the Fried Chicken and Waffles!(P280). We know how fried chicken can be most people's everyday comfort food, but this is prolly the tastiest chicken I've tasted in a long time, made even more indulgent by a savory ... Continue Reading...
A Sentro 1771 family breakfast
Sentro 1771 ( with branches in Serendra and Greenbelt) is my Caucasian hubby's favorite Filipino resto, and his favorite dish is their sinigang na corned beef. He never fails to eat this heaping bowl with gusto, a dish which was undoubtedly made famous by the restaurant. It was a joy to know that Sentro offers breakfast too. Since the place appears to take pride in their own corned beef, made from scratch, ordering the ginisang corned beef was a cinch. What I like about this home-cooked version: you somehow feel better that's it's not from the can, with less ... Continue Reading...
Shalani Soledad on Willing Willie
The news about Shalani Soledad joining Willing Willie as a co-host hogged my Facebook wall yesterday, and my friends seem to be divided on the issue. "Go girl!!" cried the fans. "Kadiri naman!," chorused the others. Methinks it's a calculated move by the popular councilor from Valenzuela City, and whether it's meant to spite the President is something we can only guess. After being "discovered" by P-Noy, Shalani appears to be testing the waters on whether she can stand on her own two feet.... with somebody on the opposite side of the political spectrum at that. And ... Continue Reading...
