Sigh! This is gonna be a long weekend, if you count the national holiday tomorrow and my medical check-up on Tuesday. It means a record-breaking four days of not going to the office. I couldn't say am bored. In fact, we had a nice time malling in Robinson's Galleria yesterday, going to the market this morning and cooking pansit for lunch. But I couldn't resist not logging on the Net for a day to check my email and my blog.I am answering these posts from my Friendster Bulletin Board for you guys to know me better (thanks Abby). My lunches this week
For this jaded office worker, lunches can be the best part of the day. It doesn't matter whether I am eating my lunch at my desk or discovering some place new, the sight of food (preferably steaming hot) is enough to divert me from my jarred thoughts or the pressure of deadlines.Market Cafe's Chinese Kitchen, originally uploaded by ajay1.At the Market Cafe, originally uploaded by ajay1.The Market Cafe in the new Hyatt Hotel & Casino (right beside our corporate offices) is undoubtedly my favorite restaurant at the moment. It was good to reminisce about the past when I was still single and carefree especially the part about living alone, working abroad and having a terrible crush on my single, Oxford-educated professor (the entries came complete with dialogue pa). Going through my previous angst and foibles is a good exercise in regression and makes me think if I am all the wiser.Fast forward to 2004. I am 35 and I am still nurturing a crush on somebody. He is sending positive signals but unfortunately, am no longer as impressionable. Time does ... Continue Reading...
Some Like It Black (The Lazy Cook Series)
Adobo is one of my all-time favorite Filipino dishes. I guess you could say it's my comfort food. Through the years, I've been blessed with nannies who cooked adobo well - you know, the version where you have pork and/or chicken simmered in vinegar, soy sauce, garlic and other flavorings. I am saying this because there are many varieties of adobo in this tropical country where adobo is king. The sad truth is am not so proud of my classic adobo although I cook the other versions quite well, such as adobong manok sa gata (chicken in coconut milk) and adobong pusit ... Continue Reading...
